Why does Transit Monitoring still show "Transit in Progress"?

Modified on Fri, 9 Oct at 1:19 PM

A transit movement may temporarily remain in the Transit Monitoring dashboard even after the related Transit Entry and Transit Exit transactions have been completed.

Does this mean the transit was not closed?

Not necessarily.

Transit Monitoring relies on transaction matching and reconciliation processes. In some cases, completed transit movements may continue to appear as "In Progress" until reconciliation has been performed.

When will the status update?

The system may update the transit status during scheduled reconciliation processes. As a result, the final status may not appear immediately after Customs commits the transactions.

Should Customs create a new transaction if Transit Monitoring is not updated immediately?

No.

If the required transit transactions have already been committed correctly, creating additional transactions is generally not necessary simply because Transit Monitoring has not yet updated.

What should I check before reporting an issue?

Verify that:

  • both the opening and closing transit transactions have been committed;
  • the transactions concern the same movement;
  • sufficient time has been allowed for reconciliation to occur.

When should I contact support?

If Transit Monitoring continues to display an unexpected status after reconciliation should reasonably have occurred, collect the relevant carnet number and transaction details before opening a support ticket.
