What is the difference between Production and Preproduction?

Modified on Fri, 9 Oct at 12:45 PM

Production and Preproduction are completely separate ATA Carnet System environments.

Each environment has its own:

  • carnets;
  • user accounts;
  • passwords;
  • customs portals;
  • mobile applications;
  • web service endpoints.

Data is not shared between environments.

Can I use a Production carnet in Preproduction?

No.

Production and Preproduction carnets are not interchangeable. A Production carnet cannot be opened, downloaded or processed in Preproduction, and vice versa.

Can I use the same credentials in both environments?

Not necessarily.

User accounts, passwords and credentials may differ between environments. Access in one environment does not automatically provide access in the other.

Which environment should I use for testing?

Preproduction is intended primarily for integration development and testing activities. Production should be used for operational ATA Carnet movements and real customs transactions.
