Why am I receiving transaction notifications at the wrong email address?

Modified on Fri, 9 Oct at 3:09 PM

Transaction notifications are sent to the holder email address recorded when the carnet was issued. If this email address is incorrect, notifications may be delivered to the wrong recipient.

Where do transaction notifications come from?

When a Customs transaction is committed, the ATA Carnet System may send notifications to the holder email address stored on the carnet record.

Why am I receiving notifications intended for someone else?

This usually occurs because:

  • the holder email address was entered incorrectly during issuance;
  • an outdated email address was used;
  • a company email address was used that is monitored by multiple people.

Can the email address be corrected?

It depends on the carnet status.

If the carnet is still in Issued status

Contact your Issuing Association as soon as possible.

Depending on the applicable procedures, the Issuing Association may be able to amend, cancel or reissue the carnet with corrected information.

If the carnet has already been Activated

Once a Customs transaction has been committed and the carnet becomes Activated, the holder email address can no longer be changed for that carnet.

Notifications will continue to be sent to the email address recorded at issuance.

Can ICC Support change the notification email address?

No.

For activated carnets, the notification recipient is determined by the holder email recorded when the carnet was issued and cannot be modified afterwards.

How can I avoid this problem?

Before a carnet is issued:

  • verify that the holder email address is correct;
  • ensure the address is monitored by the appropriate person or organisation;
  • contact your Issuing Association immediately if you notice an error before the carnet is activated.

Important note

If notifications are being delivered to an incorrect email address after activation, there is no corrective action available for the existing carnet. Future carnets should be issued using the correct email address.
